How a differential gear system works

Posted by Fzkl | 6:49 PM | Monday, August 10 | , , , | 0 comments »

A differential gear system is used in cars and other four-wheelers to enable wheels on different sides of the vehicle can rotate at different speeds. This is essential because when making a turn, the outer wheel has to go faster than the inner wheel to make the turn without sliding. This video from the 1930s explains the concept beautifully.

Mclaren F1 Vs Bugatti Veyron Drag Race

Posted by Fzkl | 11:39 AM | Tuesday, June 30 | , , , | 0 comments »

Need for Speed 2 SE was the best ever high speed racing game ever made. Period. Many would argue otherwise. The sheer speed (375 Kmph) of the Mclaren F1 on the Australian outback was as close as I would ever get to such speeds. And what a feeling that was. The Mclaren was my favorite and also the most expensive road car ever built. That was until the Bugatti made the Veyron which broke the land speed record for a road car. Top Gear pits the Bugatti Veyron head to head with the Mclaren F1 on a 1 mile drag race. Ofcourse, I am not happy with the result. But what a ride this is.

Bose auto suspension

Posted by Fzkl | 9:13 AM | Saturday, September 27 | , , | 0 comments »

When you think of automobile suspension, you never think of Bose. Atleast I never did. Bose is known for its overpriced high end audio systems that has come under a lot of criticism for over-marketing and over-pricing audiophile products that are no better in terms of sound quality that products most often half the price of Bose systems. So when I saw this, the feeling I got was: Finally they build something that makes them stand out. But wow, they are into automobiles! I didn't know that. If you are in India, then for the kind of roads we have in India, I am sure you want this in your car. This technology blew my mind.
