I spend a ton of time online, and go to many sites for my entertainment needs. With the digita age and the evolution of video sites like youtube and vimeo etc do we really need to pay for entertainment?
It's fairly easy to view many videos online, but with the slow internet speed in countries like India we do need a more viable option. How about downloading the videos available on these sites and watching them? Youtube policies state that
"Content on the Website is provided to you AS IS for your information and personal use only and may not be downloaded, copied, reproduced, distributed, transmitted, broadcast, displayed, sold, licensed, or otherwise exploited for any other purposes whatsoever without the prior written consent of the respective owners. YouTube reserves all rights not expressly granted in and to the Website and the Content."
But what about us guys? We have really really slow net connections and we can't watch the tons of User Generated Content that the rest of the world is enjoying.
Here are a few solutions to our problem:
1. Get a faster connection
2. Move to another country which will have faster connection
Now option no. 3 has some sub steps. Here goes:
1. Contact the content owner and request to download video
2. Download Tubemaster from here
3. Once you get a YES from the content owner - yippeee you can download and keep a copy for yourself.
Regarding Tubemaster, it takes about 15mins to download on your home computer, is fairly easy to use, they have provided a step wise screenshot tutorial to assist you, its available in 2 languages, English and French. I tested it on my own videos which I've uploaded, it works pretty well. What I like about this site is the accredation its received, it looks like this software is the Michael Phelps of the download-video-from-youtube-world.
I don't see a reason why people will deny you the request. But please do let me know if you get negative responses (maybe I'm wrong). I wanted to leave you with a thought, how come artists can make money when they are dead? Jimmy Hendrix is dead and gone but if I want to buy his CD it will cost me close to $9.50 + shipping. So where is all this money really going?
